magi
Priestly Persian caste
Magi is the plural of magus, referring to members of an ancient Persian priestly caste known for their expertise in astrology, dream interpretation, and religious ritual.
In Christian tradition, the Magi are the wise men from the East who followed a star to visit the infant Jesus, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh: The three magi arrived at the manger.
The word gives us magic.
