heterozygous
Two different alleles
Heterozygous describes having two different versions of a gene at the same position on paired chromosomes—one inherited from each parent.
The opposite of homozygous, where both copies match.
She's heterozygous for the sickle cell trait, carrying one normal and one mutant allele.
The condition often means a recessive trait won't be expressed.
