Rounded anatomical projection
A lobe is a rounded, projecting part of something larger.
The term applies across anatomy, botany, and architecture.
Your brain has lobes (frontal, temporal, parietal, occipital), as do your lungs and liver.
The fleshy lower part of your ear is its lobe—the part that gets pierced for earrings.
Leaves may have lobes, as do some architectural arches.
The common thread is a rounded section that bulges outward from a main body.
