jiaozi

Pleated stuffed parcels

Jiaozi are Chinese dumplings—crescent-shaped parcels of thin dough filled with minced meat and vegetables, then boiled, steamed, or pan-fried.

They're traditionally eaten during Lunar New Year, their shape resembling ancient Chinese gold ingots and symbolizing prosperity.

We ordered jiaozi and scallion pancakes to start.
