pierogi

Filled Central European dumpling

Pierogi are Eastern European dumplings—pockets of unleavened dough filled with potato, cheese, sauerkraut, meat, or fruit, then boiled and often pan-fried.

Associated especially with Polish cuisine, they appear at holiday meals and as everyday comfort food.

The singular is pierog, though pierogi often serves for both: I'll have one more pierogi.
