jazz square

Four-step crossing pattern

A jazz square is a basic dance move forming a box pattern with four steps: one foot crosses in front, the other steps back, then to the side, then forward to complete the square.

Common in jazz dance, musical theater, and aerobics, it's often one of the first choreographed steps beginners learn.

The routine opened with a simple jazz square before building to more complex footwork.
