hip bone

Femur's upper partner

The hip bone, also called the innominate bone or os coxae, is one of two large, irregularly shaped bones that form the pelvis.

Each hip bone consists of three fused sections—the ilium, ischium, and pubis—that join together during adolescence.

The hip bones connect the spine to the legs, support the weight of the upper body, and protect organs in the lower abdomen.
