hipbones
Ilium and ischium
Hipbones are the large, irregular bones forming the sides of the pelvis, connecting the spine to the legs.
Each hipbone consists of three fused sections: the ilium (the broad upper wing), the ischium (what you sit on), and the pubis.
The prominent ridges visible on lean bodies are actually the iliac crests—the upper edges of the hipbones: Her hipbones jutted above her low-rise jeans.
