sartorius

Longest human muscle

The sartorius is a long, narrow muscle running diagonally across the front of the thigh—the longest muscle in the human body.

It helps flex and rotate the hip and knee.

The name comes from the Latin word for tailor, supposedly because tailors once sat cross-legged while working, a position this muscle enables.
