iliacus

Deep pelvic flexor

The iliacus is a flat, fan-shaped muscle lining the inner surface of the hip bone.

It joins with the psoas major to form the iliopsoas, the primary hip flexor that lifts the thigh toward the torso.

The iliacus activates when walking, running, or climbing stairs: Tight iliacus muscles can contribute to lower back pain.
