headstones
Cemetery plot labels
Headstones are stone markers placed at the head of graves, typically inscribed with the deceased's name, birth and death dates, and sometimes an epitaph.
The term applies to markers of various sizes, from modest tablets to elaborate monuments: We walked through the old cemetery reading the headstones.
Also called gravestones or tombstones.
