family plot
Graveyard real estate
A family plot is a section of a cemetery where members of the same family are buried together, typically purchased in advance to ensure relatives can be interred near one another across generations.
The term also refers to a scheme or conspiracy involving family members, playing on the double meaning of plot as both a piece of land and a secret plan.
Hitchcock's 1976 film *Family Plot* exploited this ambiguity.
