Celtic cross
Circled Irish symbol
A Celtic cross is a cross with a ring or halo surrounding the intersection of the vertical and horizontal arms.
The design originates in medieval Ireland and Scotland, appearing on ancient stone monuments and in illuminated manuscripts.
Celtic crosses remain common in Celtic Christian art, cemetery headstones, and as jewelry.
The symbol has also been adopted by some white nationalist groups.
