A guppy is a small, brightly colored freshwater fish popular in home aquariums, native to South America and the Caribbean.
Guppies are hardy, breed prolifically, and are often a beginner's first pet fish.
The word sometimes describes someone perceived as small, weak, or insignificant: He's just a guppy in a tank full of sharks.
