eels
Long snaky fish
Eels are long, snakelike fish found in both fresh and salt water.
Most species have smooth, scaleless skin and lack pelvic fins.
Some, like the moray eel, are marine; others migrate between rivers and oceans to spawn.
Eels are notoriously slippery—hence slippery as an eel for someone evasive or hard to pin down.
