acclimation
Adapting to conditions
Acclimation is the process of adjusting to new conditions, especially climate or environment.
A person who moves from sea level to high altitude needs time for acclimation before strenuous activity.
The word often appears in scientific contexts describing how organisms adapt to changed temperatures, humidity, or other environmental factors: After a week of acclimation, the mice were introduced to the experimental conditions.
