filepath

Location on disk

A filepath is the string of characters that specifies the location of a file within a computer's directory structure.

It typically includes folder names separated by slashes or backslashes, ending with the filename itself: The filepath C:\Users\Documents\report.pdf tells Windows exactly where to find the file.

Filepaths can be absolute, giving the complete route from the root directory, or relative, describing location in relation to the current working directory.
