alveolar
Like T sounds
Alveolar describes things relating to small cavities or sockets.
In anatomy, alveoli are the tiny air sacs in the lungs where oxygen exchange occurs, or the sockets in the jawbone that hold teeth: alveolar bone loss.
In phonetics, alveolar sounds are made with the tongue touching the ridge behind the upper front teeth—English t, d, n, l, and s are alveolar consonants.
