subcutaneous
Beneath the dermis
Subcutaneous means beneath the skin.
Medical injections may be subcutaneous, delivering medication into the fatty tissue just below the skin's surface rather than into muscle or veins: subcutaneous insulin, a subcutaneous implant.
Subcutaneous fat is the layer of fat beneath the skin that insulates and cushions the body.
