lobule
Tiny anatomical subdivision
A lobule is a small lobe—a rounded subdivision of a larger anatomical structure.
The term appears in medical and biological contexts: the liver divides into lobules, as do lungs and glands.
The earlobe's soft lower portion is technically the lobule of the ear.
The pathologist examined the hepatic lobules under the microscope.
