neuter
Neither grammatical gender
Neuter describes something that is neither one thing nor another, most often applied to grammatical gender (neither masculine nor feminine) or to animals and people lacking functional sex organs.
To neuter an animal is to remove its reproductive organs, rendering it incapable of breeding.
The word extends figuratively to mean rendering something ineffective or harmless: The amendment neutered the original bill.
A neutered proposal or argument has had its force or impact removed.
