breasts

Mammary gland region

Breasts are the pair of soft, rounded organs on the front of a woman's chest that contain mammary glands for producing milk to feed infants.

The word applies to the corresponding area on men as well, though male breasts lack the same development.

Breast also refers to the chest area more generally, especially in older or literary usage: He clutched the letter to his breast.

In poultry, the breast is the cut of meat from this part of the bird.

To breast something is to face or push against it: breast the waves.
