Personal audio devices
Earphones are small speakers designed to be worn in or over the ears, connected to an audio device by wire or wirelessly.
The term covers both earbuds that sit in the ear canal and larger headphones that cover the entire ear, though some reserve *headphones* for the latter: I forgot my earphones on the train.
