calling upon
Requesting someone's presence
Calling upon is a formal way of asking someone to do something or requesting their help.
A speaker calls upon the audience to take action.
It also means visiting someone, now somewhat old-fashioned: I'll be calling upon my aunt this afternoon.
To call upon resources or skills is to draw on them when needed: The crisis called upon all her training.
