counter-offer

Revised deal proposal

A counter-offer is a response to an offer that proposes different terms rather than accepting or rejecting outright.

In negotiation, making a counter-offer typically voids the original offer: They asked $400,000 for the house, but we came back with a counter-offer of $375,000.

The back-and-forth of offers and counter-offers continues until parties reach agreement or walk away.
