highball

Spirit plus mixer

A highball is a cocktail of liquor mixed with a larger proportion of a non-alcoholic mixer like soda water or ginger ale, served over ice in a tall glass: She ordered a whiskey highball.

The glass itself is also called a highball.

As a verb, to highball means to move at high speed, originally railroad slang for a signal to proceed: We highballed it out of there.
