cortical

Of the bark

Cortical means relating to or involving the cortex—the outer layer of an organ, especially the brain.

In neuroscience, cortical activity refers to processes in the cerebral cortex: cortical neurons, cortical thickness.

The term also applies to other organs with a cortex, like the adrenal glands or kidneys: cortical hormones.
