Cortex-derived steroid
A corticoid is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal cortex or a synthetic version of such a hormone.
The term encompasses both corticosteroids used medically to reduce inflammation corticoid therapy for arthritis and hormones regulating metabolism and stress response.
Corticoid and corticosteroid are often used interchangeably in medical contexts.
