colocalization

Molecules sharing location

Colocalization is the presence of two or more substances in the same location, used primarily in biology and microscopy.

When fluorescent markers for different proteins overlap in cell imaging, they show colocalization—evidence the proteins occupy the same cellular region and may interact: The study demonstrated colocalization of the receptor and its ligand.
