signal-to-noise
Meaningful data ratio
Signal-to-noise is a ratio measuring meaningful information against irrelevant interference.
Originally an engineering term for audio and electronic systems, it now applies broadly: a conversation with a high signal-to-noise ratio stays focused; one with low signal-to-noise wanders into tangents and distractions.
The signal-to-noise in that meeting was terrible—two hours for one decision.
