adjacency
State of bordering
Adjacency is the state of being adjacent—next to or touching something else.
The word appears often in technical contexts: in graph theory, adjacency describes nodes connected by an edge; in urban planning, adjacency requirements specify which spaces must be near each other.
More generally, adjacency suggests nearness without overlap: The adjacency of the two properties led to disputes over the fence line.
