apoliticism

Deliberate civic disengagement

Apoliticism is the stance of avoiding or rejecting involvement in politics.

Someone practicing apoliticism might abstain from voting, refuse to discuss political topics, or deliberately distance themselves from partisan affiliations: His apoliticism frustrated friends who wanted him to take a stand.

The term can describe genuine indifference or a conscious philosophical position that political engagement is futile or corrupting.
