chatroom
Online conversation space
A chatroom is a virtual space on the internet where multiple users can exchange text messages in real time.
Popular in the 1990s and early 2000s, chatrooms were often organized around specific topics or interests and hosted on services like AOL or IRC.
The term has largely given way to alternatives like group chat or server, though it persists in some contexts.
I met my best friend in a chatroom back in middle school.
