buddy list
Chat contact list
A buddy list is a roster of contacts in an instant messaging or chat application, showing which friends are currently online and available to talk.
The term emerged with early chat programs like AOL Instant Messenger in the 1990s: I added her to my buddy list.
Now largely replaced by "contacts" or "friends list" in modern apps.
