scrollback
Console output archive
Scrollback is the buffer of text that has scrolled past the visible area of a terminal or chat window, preserved so you can scroll up to review it.
The term appears in computing contexts where continuous output streams past: I checked the scrollback for the error message.
Scrollback length is often configurable—how many lines the system retains before older content disappears.
