carbon black
Industrial rubber reinforcer
Carbon black is a fine black powder made by burning hydrocarbons in limited oxygen, used primarily as a reinforcing agent in rubber (especially tires) and as a pigment in inks, paints, and plastics.
It differs from soot in being manufactured under controlled conditions to achieve specific particle sizes and properties.
The tire industry consumes most of the world's carbon black production.
