brigandine
Studded protective garment
A brigandine is a type of body armor made of small metal plates riveted inside a fabric or leather garment.
Unlike full plate armor, it offered flexibility while still protecting the torso.
Common among infantry and lesser knights in the 14th through 16th centuries: The soldier's brigandine stopped the blade from reaching his chest.
