brasses
Tubas and trumpets
Brasses is the plural of brass in its countable senses.
Brass instruments collectively—trumpets, trombones, tubas—form the brasses of an orchestra.
Memorial brasses are engraved brass plates set into church floors or walls.
In British usage, top brasses are high-ranking officials, especially military officers: The brasses weren't happy with the report.
