Yakima
Central Washington city
Yakima refers to a Native American people of the Pacific Northwest, historically inhabiting the Yakima River valley in what is now Washington State, or to their Sahaptin language.
The name also designates the city in south-central Washington that serves as the region's agricultural hub: We drove through Yakima on our way to Seattle.
