Vancouver
British Columbia's largest
Vancouver most commonly refers to a major coastal city in British Columbia, Canada—the country's third-largest metropolitan area and a Pacific Rim hub for trade and film production.
Vancouver also names a city in Washington State, directly across the Columbia River from Portland.
Both are named for British explorer George Vancouver, who surveyed the Pacific Northwest coast in the 1790s.
