Olympia

Evergreen State capital

Olympia is the capital of Washington State, located at the southern end of Puget Sound.

The name comes from the Olympic Mountains visible to the north, themselves named for Mount Olympus in Greece—home of the gods in ancient mythology.

Olympia is also a woman's name and a brand of typewriter and beer.

The ancient Greek site where the original Olympic Games were held is properly Olympia as well, though the modern games rotate among host cities.
