Suez

Red Sea passage

Suez is a city in northeastern Egypt at the southern end of the Suez Canal, where the canal meets the Red Sea.

The name appears most often in reference to the canal itself or the Suez Crisis of 1956, when Britain, France, and Israel invaded Egypt after Nasser nationalized the waterway.

The Gulf of Suez is the northwestern arm of the Red Sea.
