Soviet Bloc

Cold War east

The Soviet Bloc was the group of communist countries aligned with and dominated by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, roughly 1947–1991.

It included Eastern European nations like Poland, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, bound together by military alliance (the Warsaw Pact) and economic coordination.

After the Berlin Wall fell, former Soviet Bloc countries rushed to join Western institutions.
