allies

Those beside you

Allies are people, groups, or nations joined together for a common purpose, especially in war or politics.

The word implies mutual support and shared interests: The two countries became allies against their common enemy.

In social contexts, an ally is someone who supports a marginalized group they don't belong to: She considers herself an ally to the LGBTQ community. (Capitalized Allies refers specifically to the Allied Powers of World War I or II.)
