American-led alliance sphere
The Western Bloc was the alliance of nations aligned with the United States during the Cold War, opposing the Soviet-led Eastern Bloc.
It included NATO members and other capitalist democracies in Western Europe, North America, and allied states worldwide.
The term is primarily historical, referring to the geopolitical division from roughly 1947 to 1991: Western Bloc nations coordinated economic and military policies against Soviet expansion.
