socialist republic
Marxist-governed nation
A socialist republic is a state organized under socialist principles, typically featuring public or collective ownership of major industries and resources, with governance structured as a republic rather than a monarchy.
The term appears in the official names of communist states: the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
In practice, most self-described socialist republics have been single-party states led by communist parties, making the term more ideological label than precise description of governance.
