Sherman tank

WWII American armor

A Sherman tank is the M4 medium tank used extensively by Allied forces during World War II—the most widely produced American tank of the war.

The name honors Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman.

By extension, Sherman tank sometimes describes anything large and unstoppable: She drove that old station wagon like a Sherman tank.
