M4
Standard infantry weapon
M4 designates several military weapons, most notably the M4 carbine—a compact, selective-fire rifle standard-issued to U.S. armed forces since the 1990s.
The designation follows U.S. military naming conventions where M stands for model.
M4 also refers to a World War II-era Sherman tank variant and appears in civilian contexts for certain highways and motorways, including Britain's main route between London and Wales.
