Jumbo

Barnum's famous attraction

Jumbo means unusually large, oversized, or extra-big.

It works as both adjective and noun: a jumbo shrimp is bigger than regular shrimp, a jumbo jet is a large passenger aircraft, and you might order a jumbo drink at the movies.

The word entered English from the name of a famous 19th-century circus elephant exhibited by P.T.

Barnum, whose size made his name synonymous with bigness.

Mumbo jumbo, meaning nonsense or meaningless ritual, is unrelated.
