long barrel
Firearm's lengthy cylinder
A long barrel is a gun barrel of greater than standard length, typically on rifles, shotguns, or revolvers.
Longer barrels generally improve accuracy and muzzle velocity by giving propellant gases more time to accelerate the projectile: He preferred a long barrel for distance shooting.
The term also appears in contexts where barrel length affects legal classification of firearms.
